Built in the 1930s as a gas storage facility, the Gazometro in Rome is today one of the most recognisable landmarks of the Ostiense district: a cylindrical steel structure standing around 90 metres tall, dominating the urban landscape along the Tiber. Since its industrial function was decommissioned, it has gradually become a venue for festivals, art installations and audiovisual performances, offering an architectural setting unlike any other.

VMS Group, a technical production company specialising in events, conventions and live productions, handled the lighting of the Gazometro for the NAMEX Annual Meeting 2026, choosing to rely on PROLIGHTS fixtures.

24 Astra Beam120IP pure-beam moving heads featuring a 120 W phosphor laser source, were installed inside the structure. Their sharp beams, generated by the 0.6° beam angle, projected beyond the truss profile, crossing above the Gazometro: the light grazed the lattice of beams and traced its geometry from within, making the architecture itself an integral part of the visual display. The IP65 rating allowed for outdoor installation without the need for additional protection, ensuring full operational reliability throughout the event.

The lighting design was created by Daniele Francucci, with show programming by Vito Schiattareggia.

A striking installation through which PROLIGHTS gave the Gazometro a renewed visual identity, transforming it into a nighttime spectacle of remarkable scenographic presence.
