Now in its second edition, Adriatic Sound Festival turned the runways of Fano Airport, on Italy's Adriatic coast, into a home for electronic music, with a lineup spanning house, techno and adjacent sounds across two stages. At the heart of the festival stood its main stage, "Axis Mundi", a monumental arch structure reinterpreting Roman architecture, designed by STUFISH Entertainment Architects, its sequence of concentric arches framing the DJ booth.

For the main stage, lighting designer Jacopo Ricci built his lighting design around 50 SunBar FLX, IP65 LED bars, supplied to production service Backstage by rental company Lucidiscena. A first line of fixtures was rigged along the arch's curved top edge, following its profile so that the structure itself became a lit outline, while a second line of SunBar FLX outlined the pillars that shaped the stage design.

The SunBar FLX's tool-free, modular rigging system let the fixtures trace the arch's curved geometry without breaking its architectural line, bringing out the full shape of the structure. Throughout the festival, the bars switched between a clean white beam and full RGB+WW colour, moving from soft outlines around the arch to saturated washes during the more intense moments of each set, while the IP65 rating kept the rig reliable across a full weekend outdoors.

"Following last year's concept, this year we again wanted the structure itself to become light, rather than just something to hang a 'standard' lighting design on. Integrating with the stage's distinctive shapes has always been a focal point of this festival's design, and the SunBar FLX gave us the freedom to follow the line of the stage's upper arch, while we used them as vertical accents on the pillars that define the Mainstage dancefloor, without hiding the architectural idea behind the set designed by Stufish. A big plus was the programming versatility between the White and RGB components, which suited the dynamics of the DJ sets well and let us use the bars both as a source of colour and as a powerful strobe," said lighting designer Jacopo Ricci.

With Adriatic Sound Festival, PROLIGHTS confirms its ability to meet the demands of large-scale productions. On this project specifically, the SunBar FLX reshaped the stage's architecture while generating the visual intensity needed to light up the crowd at a festival of this size.
