The Machinefabriek in Groningen, a former coal-fired power station that supplied the city with electricity until 1936, now houses a 160-seat theatre built within the original turbine hall and boiler room. The building serves as the creative home of NITE (Nationaal Interdisciplinair Theater Ensemble) which, together with international dance company Club Guy & Roni, forms the largest interdisciplinary theatre institution in the Netherlands.

Lighting productions that bring together dance, theatre, music, visual art and fashion demands a system capable of adapting to widely varying scenic requirements. To meet this challenge, NITE has upgraded its lighting inventory with new PROLIGHTS fixtures, supplied by Full AVL. Lichtpunt Theatertechniek oversaw the entire project, providing expert guidance on fixture selection and managing every stage of the installation.

The new PROLIGHTS rig includes 24 EclProfile CT+HP and 12 EclProfile CT+ LED profile spotlights, selected for precise beam control and shaping across the company's broad repertoire, alongside 8 EclFresnel CT+L and 12 EclFresnel CT+M LED Fresnel projectors. Completing the system are 6 EclCyclorama 100 fixtures for cyclorama coverage, together with 24 EclPar IPLFC and 18 EclPar IPSFC LED PAR units.

Central to the selection was Spektra OS, PROLIGHTS' proprietary operating system, which delivers advanced color mixing, precision CCT reproduction and a uniform response across the entire rig, a decisive advantage when programming interdisciplinary productions where color coherence cannot be left to chance. "Prolights' uniform color palette with Spektra OS significantly elevates our visual quality while saving valuable programming time," confirmed NITE.

With the system now fully operational at the Machinefabriek, NITE and Club Guy & Roni can approach every new production with the technical freedom their interdisciplinary work demands, in a space where history and creativity share the same stage.
